Board Meeting Dates

Please note - we do not have Board Meetings over the summer (they resume in September).

The Twins' Mothers Club of Bergen County (TMC) has two meetings each month, from September to June: a General Meeting, and a Board Meeting. Our June General Meeting is our Installation Dinner and is held at a different location than our regular general meetings.

General Meetings

Open to all women who either are expecting multiples, or are already mothers of multiples. Expectant moms are welcome to attend as many meetings as they wish. Once your twins are born you may attend two meetings as our guest before joining the club.

General Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of the month, from September to June, with two exceptions. In November we often meet on the third Wednesday (because of Thanksgiving), and there is no General Meeting in December (because of the holidays). General Meetings are held at the Rochelle Park American Legion from September to May. The address is 33 West Passaic Street, Rochelle Park, NJ 07662. Directions are available.

Each meeting is broken down into a few parts.

  • 7:15pm - 8:00pm: Informal discussion groups meet. One group is for new and expectant moms. "Lightly Seasoned MOMs" help each other with the challenges of rearing toddler multiples.
  • 8:00pm - ?: Discussion groups break up; regular meeting begins. The order of events varies depending on the program we have planned for the evening.

Discussion groups: This is a great time to get to know the other mothers whose twins are the same age as yours. New and expectant moms share opinions and talk about issues specifically pertaining to young multiples. Topics that come up frequently include breastfeeding, schedules, double strollers, and logistics of going out with two babies. "Lightly Seasoned MOMs" discuss potty training, fighting, and other issues unique to the toddler years. "Job Jugglers" discuss the challenges of balancing work outside the home and life inside the home, daycare, etc. You are always free to bring up your own topic in any group.

Business portion: Officers and committee chairmen briefly share with the membership at large what they've been up to. Members find out what fun events they can attend! We also discuss business that requires a collective decision from all members.

Break: About 15 - 20 minutes, between the business portion and the program. Members and guests enjoy our refreshments, peruse our thrift table, and chat with other members.

Program: Something for everyone! When we have a speaker scheduled, the program is at 8:00. Past speakers have addressed a wide variety of topics, including child development, gardening, keeping our children safe, fitness, cooking, and communication skills. Other recent programs have included "Craft Night for the Artistically Challenged," Fathers' Night, "Pamper Yourself," Grandmothers' Night, "Ice Cream Social," and our Potluck Dinner and Gift Auction. There's a mix of entertainment, information, and just plain fun. Come and see what we have in store this month!

After the meeting is over, many of us hang around and chat with new-found friends and women we've known for years. Some of us go to a local diner for a bite to eat, jokes, and more fun! All are always welcome.

Board Meetings

Board Meetings are held on the first or second Wednesday of the month. These are casual meetings, for members only, held at a member's home. Attendance is not limited to officers and committee chairmen - all members are welcome and encouraged to attend. This is where we discuss club business and make most decisions. All members present have a voice and share their ideas. When the business is completed, there is time to chat and have refreshments.
